Students interested in the interface of Computer Science and Linguistics took part in a guest lecture by Dr. Barbara Di Eugenio on April 28 Wed. 4PM-5:30PM. Dr. Di Eugenio, Professor of Computer Science and Director of the Natural Language Processing Laboratory at UIC, presented an overview of her team's research that explores AI-aided solutions to real-world problems ranging from medical communication to elderly care. Advancements in linguistics, particularly multimodal, integrative approaches to meaning-in-context can provide important insights on how to model human interaction for machine learning. Thank you, Dr. Eugenio and thank you our colleagues and students for making this wonderful talk possible in the last week of class!
