About

Since arriving to UIC in 2016, Carrie has taught across the Spanish basic language, Italian basic language, Hispanic Linguistics, and Linguistics programs. Her research interests include adult second (L2) and third (L3) language phonological acquisition, methodologies in L3 production and perception research, and acoustic properties of Ln and heritage speech. She is currently working to develop the Corpus of Multilingual Speech (CoMS), an open-access repository of oral production data for conducting bilingual and multilingual research. Carrie is also the Faculty Supervisor of the Computer Science + Linguistics Peer Tutoring initiative and a co-founder of UIC's faculty-led summer study abroad program in Alcalá de Henares, Spain.
