Becoming a Global Citizen: Japan as a way: A conversational event with Prof. Jill Bruellman

group picture

Students in the Japanese program and linguistics friends at large participated in a conversational event with Prof. Jill Bruellman. The conversations ranged from how to prepare a strong application for the Jet Program, how to sustain high proficiency in a foreign language, what kind of careers can use foreign language skills, regional dialects of Japanese vs. standard Japanese (Is it easier to go from regional dialect to standard or the other way around?). Prof. Bruellman advises our students to be intentional, to have a plan, to  enjoy the process and study linguistics along with foreign languages. Thank you, Prof. Bruellman! (The event was organized by the faculty in the Japanese Program, Mika Changet and Noriko Day).
