In her paper titled Utopia and Dystopia: "Temporal dystopia and the refugee linguistic landscape" and presented at the 14th Linguistic Landscape Workshop held in Madrid, Spain, Dr. Hallett argues that the linguistic landscape on the far north side of Chicago reveals the complex web of literacies, needs, assets, and levels of integration for refugee and migrant groups, positioning the vitality of their respective languages along a dystopic timeline.
