Free Training Opportunity with Argonne National Lab
Argonne has a training series that our students are invited to register for at no cost, a very nice opportunity for students, including non-STEM majors, interested in AI and high-performance computing.
Pre-requisites
This training series is aimed at undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at U.S. universities. Attendees are expected to have basic experience with Python. No supercomputing or AI knowledge is required.
Workshop Series Format
Each session will have both lecture and hands-on components, along with a talk from an Argonnescientist about the work they do using AI for their science.
Each session occurs on Tuesdays from 3-5 p.m. US CT. Sessions will be made available shortly after each event.
Attendees who complete all in-class and post-class exercises by the end of the series will receive a certificate of completion and a digital badge.
The training series will provide hands-on experience on the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility's (ALCF) supercomputing resources, providing a unique learning experience that will give participants a leg up in the emerging field of AI for Science.
- Week 1: Introduction to AI training on ThetaGPU supercomputer and machine learning
- Week 2: Neural networks in Python
- Week 3: Neural networks in TensorFlow;
- Week 4: Modern classification networks
- Week 5: Handling data during AI training
- Week 6: Supercomputers and parallel AI training
- Week 7: Running Large Scale Training on a supercomputer
- Week 8: Other AI learning methods
Participants who complete all hands-on materials for the course will receive a certificate of completion and a digital badge.
The deadline for registration is September 16, 2022. The series is free to attend, but registration is required. Attendees will receive the link to the online webinar once they have registered.
