A Recap of Conversation with Howard Snyder
Students of the Chinese Program had a wonderful conversation with Howard Snyder (film director, "My Beijing Birthday") on the changes of social norms since his initial visit to China in 1981 to recent return to US in 2017. China has transformed dramatically in the past decades as has the US-China relationship. The event was conducted in Mandarin Chinese and captioned in both Chines and English, serving as a language practice for our students and an intellectual conversation. Mr. Snyder shared with students his favorite idioms in Chinese, what they meant for him, and his favorite books to read about Chinese history.
