KOR 230 – Korean Popular Culture in a Global World
On Campus. TR 11:00-12:15. Instructor: Dr. Hanae Kim
This course guides students in exploring and critically understanding K-pop as a cultural phenomenon both in South Korea, and globally especially its connection to youth culture in the US. Topics around K-pop through critical, cross-cultural lenses provide a rich context for understanding how different cultures interact to generate a new culture and how the newly created culture in turn influences other cultures.
This course is taught in English. No knowledge of Korean required.

These courses are taught in a hybrid format consisting of TR face-to-face class sessions and weekly online learning modules on Blackboard.
KOR 102 – Elementary Korean II
TR 10:00-10:50. Instructor: Dr. Hanae Kim
This is a hybrid course (mixed in-person and online mode) designed to develop the four language skills, speaking, listening, reading and writing in Korean. It is a continuation of KOR101 for a more in-depth elementary level examination of Korean language and culture with intensive practice in speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Prerequisite(s): Grade of C or better in KOR 101; or placement.
KOR 104 – Intermediate Korean II
TR 1:00-1:50. Instructor: Dr. Hanae Kim
This is a hybrid course (mixed in-person and online mode) designed to develop the four language skills, speaking, listening, reading and writing in Korean. This course covers the basic grammatical structures and vocabulary necessary for intermediate-low conversation, reading comprehension, and writing sentences to help the students build a solid foundation for further study in Korean language.
Prerequisite(s): Grade of C or better in KOR 103; or placement.
